First off, I want to say thank Prof. Aswath for pointing out the issue with green washing in this space.<br><br>However, framing ESG as purely a "cost" or sacrifice overlooks its critical role in long-term risk management. While striving for "perfect" ESG might be a cost, ignoring significant social or environmental risks—like exploitative labor or massive pollution—is a short-term profit strategy that puts the company's "going concern" status at extreme risk. The real task is finding the right risk tolerance: focusing on mitigating the ESG risks that protect and add true economic value, rather than just optimizing for an accounting score.
