By the way, appreciate this video, because I had to Google pictures of Spy Fox to make that thumbnail. You know I wasn't going to say it in the video, but I think there might be another reason why Spy Fox is as beloved as it is.<br><br>Turns out furries get quite attached to their favorite childhood franchises.

The voice of Pajama Sam being Bobby Hill is one of my fav ransom pieces of Trivia. I can’t unhear it

It's fucking crazy that the entire industry of point-and-click adventure games during a certain decade all relied on a single text-based game engine that was created by a single man.

Years ago I found Freddie Fish on steam and showed it to my cousin (who was like 4 at the time). I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked across generations

Here's the thing about the "grown up humongous entertainment games" thing. I imagine these concepts CAN work if they kept the same vibes as the original games. I think a slightly more mature pajama Sam where he deals with more pre-teen/teen issues by kinda regressing back to comforts of his youth, yet told through that same cartoony lens CAN work.

Hot take: Backyard Football holds up better than half of the most recent Madden games

Funny enough, growing up my mom would often say, "Sly Fox" or, "Spy Cooper."<br><br>I will say though, as someone who grew up with these games when they were relatively new, Spy Fox and Freddi Fish felt like the one's that aged the best. Freddi has an atmosphere I still love and Spy Fox just felt cooler than the rest.<br><br>I eventually became a preschool teacher and it was heartwarming how these games lasted far beyond where they were supposed to. I remember Putt especially being common.

I grew up in Woodinville, and I was so proud to work for HE as my second software testing job - especially after how demanding working for EA was. After working 60-80 hour weeks on the PC port of Need For Speed 3, I really appreciated how HE respected their employees' work/life balance. While I was there, I worked on Freddi Fish 4, at least one of the Blue's Clues games, Backyard Baseball Net (one of only 2 cancelled projects I worked on, though this would eventually be modified and released as another Backyard Baseball title) and the CaveDog (HE's sister company) RTS sequel, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms.<br>Some of my favorite memories from working there were spent hanging out after work, playing Team Fortress Classic with the devs on the biggest LAN I'd had the chance to play on.<br>I've worked for some great game companies in my career (Sucker Punch is probably my favorite - I tested Sly Cooper 3 there), so it's saying something that HE was right up there with Nintendo as far as the overall experience - I'd even go so far as to say HE had a better vibe than any of the 3 testing departments I worked for at the Big N.

Man, this unlocked a Core Memory in me. I loved playing these games (along with other edutainment games like Jumpstart and Cluefinders) as a kid while my mom was working. A shame what happened to Humongous Entertainment but at least their games are still available.

N. Gin and the Pajama Sam boat are both riffing on Peter Lorre, an early hollywood actor most famous for his role in Casablanca, and someone that voice actors have always enjoyed doing impressions of, especially during the theatrical looney tunes days, and his voice basically became a stock cartoon voice over the decades. Actually a <b>lot</b> of the more basic, stock cartoon voices out there began life as a specific impression of some golden age hollywood actor or another.
