Alright, real talk time — what's one thing you stocked up on that you later looked at and thought, "...why did I buy this?" Drop it in the comments. No judgment here, I promise. We've all done it, and sharing those stories is how this whole community gets smarter together. Remember: this is never about panic buying. It's about building a pantry that actually works for YOUR family. Stay safe out there, my friends — and keep stacking it to the rafters.
SuttonsDaze Master list of what NOT to stock: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ogfi065uu1v94mt/SuttonsDaze+Master+list+of+what+NOT+to+stock.pdf/file
Water: https://youtu.be/jRQ5ELe92RU
Trauma Kit: https://amzn.to/4vKaOFp

I am elderly on a fixed income less than 1000 a month for several years I have recieved a elder box and regular food boxes. I switched to no waste kitchen I even fry the potato peels make nice chips. When you stop throwing food out you save money. I have learned to use that food that most would throw out and make super Awsome meals and yes even put some up. Just showing you don’t have to be rich to be prepared you can just change the way you live.

I have a friend who I tried to direct her to your videos. She does the opposite of anything I say. She instead listened to the preppers preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse. 😳 She bought a ton of lentils. I asked her if she liked lentils?? She never answered me. I don’t think she has eaten lentils in her life. She has the bug out bags etc. I decided since no one listens to me, I’ll just work on my own stash.

I used to can a lot, but my age is making it harder. I have a huge supply of empty quart jars. I was thinking of selling them but changed my mind recently. I am canning water in them instead. I will reuse my saved used lids. If the seal fails I will just dump the water or wash dishes with it. The jars take up the same amount of storage space filled with water or empty. When I need jars for canning food I will dump the water on my plants or give to the dogs. I hate buying water in plastic bottles so this works for me.

I am a schoolbus driver in a rural area. Hae had the same route for 5yrs. I am noticing ALOT of my families have started gardens, raising chickens, goats, meat rabbits , evn small homesteads that utilize all this. NEVER till now have i seen this. I have been prepping since the big C four yrs ago, but never seen anything like this in my area. Even one of my on town families in my small town have begun having chickens. Thanks to my job, i have families where i can buy fresh eggs and one of my families sells me homegrown hamburger meat for 6 dollars a pound. Atn70 yrs old, i must say im concerned more than ive ever been, we are just gonna have to work together to survive these times. Thank you for all this info. Im gonna share this with some of my young families.

I live in a water insecure area and have a few tricks: can chicken broth for cooking rice (and other foods that require water), use the water in your canned vegetables to cook with, as you said have ready to eat canned meals, paper plates, bowls, etc. that don't need to be washed, hand wipes to save water. (There's more but I'm blanking, lol)

Dried beans, historically, have been a low fuel item to cook, that is why they are peasant food in pretty much every culture worldwide. Fuel is expensive. Low and slow is the key. People are just used to cranking everything up to 100 and cooking it as fast as possible. For all beans you can bring them to a rolling boil for 15 minutes then put them in an insulated container to finish cooking on the residual heat in a haybox or wrapped in blankets or a cooler. Leave them for 4 to 6 hours and come back from working all day to cooked beans. I do this all the time when camping, set them up and leave them in the cooler in a blanket while we go for a nice hike and come back to baked beans for dinner.

I love this channel because it's detailed and realistic. I can't prep for everything, but I can cover the basics.

19:28 if you soak beans until they sprout (2-3 days), beans cook on the stove for only 30 min. Saves a ton of fuel/electricity.

My bff (I'm her roommate) just bought a beautiful, 100 yr old Tudor style home (all original-interior needs fixing) near the edge of a really small town & near a nice river. I'm teaching myself fishing, foraging & if I can stomach it, hunting this year on top of already gardening. I've already claimed the basement room under the porch for growing food in the winter. I helped Mom & Grandma can veggies, fruit & jams, so I'm trying my hand @ that. When I get good @ these things, I'm inviting friends over to teach them since they're helping teach us how to repair the house. In-person skill-sharing.
