Lizzie, one of the crocodiles featured in this video filmed by David White, was recently illegally killed. They found her butchered and they never found out who did it. She was a caring mother and a vital part of her ecosystem. Murdering animals for absolutely no reason makes you a pathetic monster. <br><br>David White wrote:<br><br>In loving memory of the most beautiful soul and Queen of the Daintree, Lizzie. May you rest in peace, for 26 years you were there for me and I miss you so very much. May your memory live on in your children for they were your greatest gift.

Kind of crazy that showing crocs death rolling can demonetize you on YouTube. I grew up watching docs on TV showing that no problem, it's depressing how much censorship has eroded content these days.

The story at the start is insane. Imagine a crocodile planning your murder for 6 months WHILE you're taking care of it.

Demonetizing educational info material that is better made than every TV "documentary" is NOT the thing we need on Youtube.<br>I learned a lot today

I live in northern Australia. That warning in the video about staying away from the water (all water, from the sea to small creeks), and not going to the same place at the water's edge twice, is completely true. Ignore it at your mortal peril. Crocs are smart, very powerful, and very very patient. Being cold blooded reptiles in a warm tropical environment they don't need to eat often, and can stalk you for weeks just waiting for the right moment. <br><br>They are also superbly adapted to their environment, very tough and resilient, one of the great survivors of the animal kingdom. They will long outlive us humans.

The crocodile build is so optimal and powerful, it’s been around for hundreds of millions of years. Evolution said “This is it!!”

The croc and dragonfly body types have been around since before most modern trees, grass, and flowering plants.

One other pretty interesting thing that wasn’t mentioned in the video is that the scutes on their back also are designed to create lots of currents and counter currents which work to significantly reduce and often entirely remove ripples on the surface when swimming just a few inches below, which allows them to almost instantly vanish even when moving just under the surface in murky water. Pretty cool.

The crocodile warning signs should say "The crocodiles are capable of planning, are smarter than most mammals, and like the taste of humans. Just like Jurassic Park Velociraptors. If you can see them, they are planning how to eat you."<br>That will keep people away from them.

To think that a crocodile can re-migrate back to exactly where it came from is really fascinating. Not just the "How", but just the "Why" is truly mind boggling to me. It means the animal actually feels a strong connection to its old habitat and much rather goes there, instead of finding something new. In short: They get homesick. And THAT is bind blowing.

Dang crocs have better navigation than GPS. That’s crazy. They must have a literal built in compass like a lot of types of migratory birds. Some birds even have proteins in their eyes that let them perceive the actual magnetic field. 🤯
