So happy for you to cover this album. I’ve loved Monk for decades but this album has always been special to me since it provides a “mapping” from “conventional jazz” to Monk’s unique harmonic world, rhythmic genius, and chromatic sensibilities.

This is the album where I "got" Monk. The light bulb went on and I thought I get what he's doing now.

Monk always played on the edge but never fell off of it.

A new YHI episode at 8am on a Monday morning is a dangerous thing! Last time this happened I went down a Stevie Wonder rabbit hole and basically didn't do any work lol

In a classic example of what happens when I watch your videos, I got seven minutes into this before I grabbed my guitar and drifted off into 20 minutes of “I Mean You”. Ok, back to the video now. I’m sure it’ll be great.

The one album I’d choose if I could only pick one. Thank you Adam and Peter

Fond memories of Monk as a kid. Family friend. My bassist Uncle Larry Ridley toured with him.

Thanks fellas; loved the Marvin Gaye surprise. Thought it sounded like Sam Cooke, but knew that wasn't it. Cooke's Night Beat LP might make a cool episode.
