  as a physicist, let me add: if they only control thermal energy, making the atoms sufficientely hot would make it impossible for electrons to couple with the nuclei, thus ionizing the material. Maybe that&apos;s the core of electrical energy bending

  iroh heating up his tea is genuinely an amazing piece of subtle story telling. he is showing he knows exactly what firebending really is and is demonstrating his mastery of it. it completely flew over my head as a one-off gag but this is one of the only times we see the bending style without an actual flame

  With fire, this means all benders can theoretically bend someone&apos;s body.<br>Airbenders with breathbending.<br>Waterbenders with bloodbending.<br>Earthbenders with bonebending.<br>Firebenders with heatbending, or electrobending.

  The one thing I have issue with is that it seems pretty clear that both redirection techniques require you to take the energy into your own body. You can&apos;t just divert the path of a lightning bolt, you have to let it move through you. So I&apos;m not sure nerve bending would work unless you were shrunk down inside their brain.

  Energybending being a form of firebending would be extremely thematically resonant given that this implies that Aang defeated &quot;the most powerful firebender in the world&quot; by essentially showing him he doesn&apos;t know anything about firebending.
