  I’ve lived on my boat for 6 years in Europe at a marina. My residency ran out so now I am relocating my boat to the other side of the world. I have an ICC but have never really sailed other than 2 trips on other boats. I did live on my first boat decades ago for 4 years. Now I have soloed across the Atlantic and will face the Pacific next year. 6000NM so far. Age 75.<br>In the interests of old guy safety I am increasing the height of my stanchions from the ridiculously unsafe and low 700mm to 930mm, and adding in an extra safety line.

  Correction: &nbsp;PNW has a 12 month sailing season. &nbsp;However, it does have a limited bikini season.

  This is something I would like to do in a couple of years when I retire. Can you do a podcast or have you done one breaking down marina costs and what life would be like in them?

  The big issues with the PNW from a guy that lived up there for 25 years, and did a small amount of sailing there, are, 1) rain. &nbsp;It rains a lot, 2) marinas - they tend to be pretty full, and live-aboards are pretty non-existent., 3) The Puget sound is pretty deep and so there aren&apos;t a lot of anchorages (which is why the marinas get full up)<br><br>I bought a boat on the east coast, and was surprised how open the marinas were to transient and liveaboards on the east coast were.... There are a few that are not flexible, but a lot are. &nbsp;This was my first season, I had planned to do it with a partner, but she quit at the last moment so I did it alone... it took me an extra year to get a few things done, but I did it, and yes, I set a date, and left, even tho not everything was done. &nbsp;Next year I hope to actually head for the Caribbean and see where I wind up.

  That’s what I did. Ready or not I left the marina March 31st 2026. Now I’m learning as I go, making mistakes but documenting it all on my channel. Thanks for this video - it was helpful ❤

  Hey Doodles, I am a newly retired, newish sailor, enjoying the Abacos for awhile. I was raised a power boater, and I chartered trawlers occasionally, but when it was time to buy, I went to some ASA classes then bought a 45&apos; mono-hull. Fun times. And funny to see we are/were in the same neighborhood.<br>Signed, Sailing solo in search of my mermaid. 😉
