The creditor writing off your uncollectible debt, whole or partial, is not doing out of kindness or resignation. He filed for business loss in his returns for deduction against his income for that tax year, and got all or some of it back in reduced taxes. It's like collecting the debt indirectly through Uncle Sam😅
