Rule 1 needs an addition. We never talk about what we spend on the hobby either.

My biggest thing is the operators who don't listen. I hear a POTA or a DX station trying to work a pile up and they are giving great instructions such as "Station ending Oscar Hotel" and some other station jumps in there and the people keep transmitting over top of others, over and over again creating a mess. Listen, listen, listen.

Great video. I remember passing all the licensing and not knowing “what to do/say”. I listened for weeks before jumping in. Even today, I am more of a listener. Great video.

You are are so right. Some people continuously say their call signs like they get off on it. Identify yourself and get to the conversation.

These are all excellent points. One thing that might be mentioned, especially on HF, always ask if the frequency is in use before calling CQ. I found this out the hard way when I was first licensed 33 years ago. I never made that mistake again. I also agree about the phonetics. I had a pileup of stations calling me during Field Day, and some of the phonetics people were using just drove me insane.

Funny you mention the IDing after every sentence. Every weekday morning two old farts get on the repeater and talk about their stupid Dr. Appointments and trips to Wal mart blah blah blah. Both of them, at the end of every transmission ID. It drives me insane. Whenever they start their morning snoozfest, I QSY over to another repeater. Every. Effing. Sentence ends with KE3xxx from W3XX. 🙄
