  I love watching these videos when waiting for trains to pass by on the north east corridor because it genuinely surprises me how dead the rails can be on certain days

  The next gen acelas are undoubtedly an amazing addition to Amtrak. Any longer wait and the existing high speed service would start crumbling apart. The future frequency and capacity improvements are also amazing.<br><br>Besides that, the train set serves as a billboard for Amtrak. We train nerds are rightfully more excited about the infrastructure improvements coming to the NEC, but these improvements will be noticed by the general public as a consequence of the shiny new trains first and foremost. In that sense it’s almost a positive that they got delayed for so long (altho ideally both the trains and the gateway program would have been funded and sorted a decade ago)

  The speed increase is nice, but more a regulation change than equipment capabilities changing. Wish media would emphasize the capacity increase and reliability improvement over the long unsupported gen I models. Hyping a 5% speed increase takes focus away from replacing a long overdue 25 year old fleet. Hoping we see similar upticks in trip times as speed restricted tunnels and bridges get slowly replaced under the NEC improvement plan.

  I very much appreciate the style and comfort these trains offer. Also when talking about speed,you must always consider the infrastructure on which the trains operate.

  I get that shot at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbT61IfKV8Q&amp;t=1180">19:40</a> is for the horn showcase, but ive seen so many amtrak and acela clips, and this clip right here is the best one ive seen of all, that was an amazing shot

  I rode the X2000 when Amtrak demonstrated them back in the 90s.

  These trains really are beautiful, such a huge step up aesthetically from the Gen 1&apos;s. The no seating in the cafe car hurts my heart a little bit though, I&apos;m a huge proponent of a secondary place to sit while on the train. Also, new Portal Bridge gets closer to being finished every time I go through and man I cannot WAIT for it to be done. Basically as big of an upgrade to the Acela as the new trains themselves.

  The power car-passenger car transition looks a lot better in your footage. I havent noticed until people stopped clowning on it for once, shows how much i let others make my opinions for me

  Rode the new train recently Philly to Boston and was very happy with them. The complaints are a bit overplayed. I actually liked how sturdy the seats felt compared to the old acelas. I also don&apos;t even own a USB C to USB C cord, so the USB A plugs are great, though I found using a power block on the actually outlet was much better for charging cause the USB plugs are so low powered.
