The hottest day ever recorded in Australia of 125°F (51.7°C) degrees at Bourke on the afternoon of Sunday, January 4 1909.<br>Lightning Ridge gets it black gems from fossilized dinosaur bones, which have turned into gems (scientific fact).<br>I was in Tasmania approx. 40 yrs ago. Queenstown was a ghost town, and you could buy a 3 bedroom house for $5000. A few years later it opened back up as a tourist attraction.... I regret not buying a house !
