We remodeled our kitchen about 15 years ago. Not one of the (trendy) items you mention went into it. Stained wood cabinets, lots of them upper and lower with clever storage tricks and rollers on all the cabinet shelves. A farmhouse sink with a normal faucet. A normal fridge with no electronics. It has all served us well. Gadgets are just that.

I wouldn't waste money on a touchless faucet. However, I have well water, so if the electricity goes out then the electric pump goes out and I still don't have water.

I don’t know anyone who is tired of their white kitchen. It’s seems to be the kinda thing that people like so much they just put up with a little extra cleaning. It’s a classic look

My current fridge is 41 years old and still going strong. I’m planning a kitchen remodel in the near future, but those plans include my current 41 year old fridge. I have no plans to replace it anytime soon.

I have open shelves and no problem . I really like them. We have a small kitchen and use everything within a week. So I guess it stays clean. I wash the shelves when I spring clean.
If I could post a photo I would!

I miss the transom on top of the door in the kitchen.

So he wants us to trade open shelves to washing glass doors? Ridiculous

My major gripe is when the stove and sink are not adjacent to each other. Mine is on the counter opposite the stove which causes things to spill when taking a pot from the sink to the stove or reverse. When you fill a pot with water and then have to lift it across the floor to the stove top, rather than putting on the counter and then moving it a short distance to the stove or reverse.
Lifting a pot of boiling liquid from the stove to the sink that's on the island opposite the stove is dangerous.
BTW, why are you showing images of kitchens from the early 1900s?

Too bad the only appliances we can buy nowadays are electronic with screens that fail too soon.

I have a cooking scullery, I live small, so it keeps the food smells and grease from the rest of my home. 23:19 I only own, stainless, cast iron or glass/pyres cookware, was never a fan of "non stick", just no. 25:03

White kitchens go back far further than the years you listed. White (soft, not stark) has been popular for kitchens for more than 100 years. What changed in the white kitchens of recent years? Probably related to thermofoil covered cabinets instead of painted real wood.

I really enjoyed the details in your observations and thank you for identifying this video as AI. The comment about the open shelves being about 30 dollars is off. They are much more expensive than that.
