You firm up Jello in the refrigerator, not the freezer. It turns into a rubbery gelatin, not an ice cube.

The cups need to be squeezeable.

Thank you for a wonderful laugh.  I so enjoyed this.  To wrap up what the other comments were saying --- Jello is put in the refrigerator to gel, not in the freezer.  Also, most people would have dumped the entire mixture into a flat pan, let it gel, then cut it up and put it into whatever cup you are serving it from.  If you put it in the small cups to gel, it is, as you discovered, hard to get out.  You two are a lovely couple, and this was so much fun to watch.

Good grief, man. Be careful with those things. When done right, they sneak up on you. You’ll find yourself on the floor with little memory of how you got there.

Hello, Julie! Tip for next time: CHILL (in the refrigerator) the jello in a baking sheet or cake pan. Cut into bite size cubes when chilled. Then place 2-3 cubes into your shot glass. Instead of 2 cups water, use 1 cup water and 1 cup of your choice of alcohol.

I have found them to be loved by people who don’t usually drink alcohol. However , they can creep up on you ,as they go down so easily

You found Texas vodka in Amsterdam? That's crazy. Also, you squeeze the cup to break the suction. It works better with softer plastic.

I've watched several European videos trying to replicate American recipes and noticed that they never seem to have measuring cups, or at least the  marked liquid and dry measuring cups that are common in the USA.
