Me and friends would go to this park every Memorial Day weekend in the mid 70's. It was pretty much a free-for-all party location in the middle of nowhere. You had to bring whatever food and drink, I don't think most of the camp had water or electrical hook ups, just beach-style outdoor showers and a couple bathrooms. Unregulated 24/7 drinking, and the "rides" were every bit as dangerous as it looks in this video, especially the metal stand-up slides and the zip lines. When you drove up to the entrance gate to pay for camping, everyone in the car would have to sign a (likely illegal) waiver promising not to hold the camp owners liable for any injuries at the park.

When we were relaxing on the lakeside in lawn chairs, we'd watch people fall off the zip lines as they started off and tumble down that rocky hill or better yet, not let go before hitting the tire at the end and get whipped/thrown head over heels right to the edge of the shore in barely knee-deep water. Sliding down that metal slide in your bare feet was really tough, you'd always be scared of falling right as you got to the end and hitting your head on the lip of the slide. We would see at least one major injury every single day. Nights, they'd shut the water off on the slides but you could still swim or float on rafts in the murky lake.

But the best thing was all night parties and hooking up with girls. Some epic hangovers next morning in that desert heat.

And when it was time to head back to Downey, the family piled in the back of the pickup truck for the ride home. Love the 70's!

I went here when I around 12 years old. They let kids do all the rides, it was insane and dangerous AF. I don't think I did the stand up slide but even 36 years later I clearly recall doing every other thing there. Crazy.

We drove out here from Long Beach a couple times in the early 80's. The standup slide was incomparable!
