I could really use some advice on how to not blow up in the last 10k of my 10k.

This channel is pure gold. Stephen is fantastic! Stephen + Lee Grantham on YT is all you need to become the best runner possible. Only being directly trained by them would make you even better (probably). Thx Stephen!

I’ve run 6 marathons. All of them in the 160/170 hr range. I think most people racing marathons are running with a much higher hr than you suggest. Love the channel and what you’re doing with SM

Top video as always. Also your shorts are mega, wore them for the Manchester marathon this year.

My lesson to keep my hr from blowing up: move someplace flatter.

This is really valuable stuff, I am exactly in that position, same goals as Spencer and got to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKYd0ch8x38&t=172">2:52</a> but my goal was sub <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKYd0ch8x38&t=170">2:50</a> so kind of failed. I have been neglecting those paces between <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKYd0ch8x38&t=260">4:20</a>-<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKYd0ch8x38&t=270">4:30</a> indeed, doing only very easy recovery above <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKYd0ch8x38&t=300">5:00</a>/km and faster stuff like the usual 8x1km at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKYd0ch8x38&t=210">3:30</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKYd0ch8x38&t=220">3:40</a>. Very interesting this idea of pushing LT1 closer to LT2. Was kinda convinced that LT1 would have improved by just doing typical high mileage and easy runs and that’s it

I only found out when training for ultras that my LT 1 should be in a really good place. That was also when I started to push that and tadaa I was able to also PB in the marathon without running higher volume or pushing LT 2. Oh your golden retrievers are big cute boys :).

HR training has worked so well for me - will try the alternating tempo as love to mix up the sessions. Thanks for all your coaching advice Stephen 😊

Where I live it is hilly, so I often see pulse drift because of inclines taking more effort. Makes tracking HR tricky
