I think it will hurt the rental market. Why rent a mini 3 or 4 times when you can buy your own. Furthermore, if you have a project that takes you a month of weekends and evenings, sell it afterwards and almost break even.

I predict Deere, CNH and AgCo all flying in their corporate jets to Washington to plead to Congress they have to tariff the heck out of the Chinese for unfairly "dumping" equipment below cost on the market to steal market share. And while they're there, also to ask the Fed to print another $100 billion or so to bail out the American Ag-machinery industry while the $ printing press is running hot again. After all, private jet flights are expensive so best to accomplish both protectionist missions on one trip.

Homeowners and homesteads will pick these up. They are marketed as disposable products. You can rent a machine for $300/day or buy one of these to get ten or more days worth of work done and not be forced to use it if the weather turns.
I see a big need for ground penetrating radar that the utility companies use to mark pipes and wires!
Clever dealers will advertise they can repair any of them, getting parts for most. Or the local m&p lawn mower repair business will take care of them.

    15:48
Tim. My thoughts are 2 fold
1. A immediate effect won’t take place. I mean the pros with the name brand equipment will still have jobs from home owners needing work done. I think some easier jobs may be moved from the pros to the homeowner who wants to buy one of these machine and tackle the job themselves. Then they will have a machine for the cost they were probably quoted to do the job from the pro. But the pros will still have jobs and the Deere / Kubota marker will still be solid

2. This market opens up jobs / tasks a home owner can then do, which they may have been putting off or neglecting to do. OR get them out from using a human powered excavator. (Shovel).

As an example. I have a buddy who restores houses. He buys ones with foundation issues, uses a tiller and shovel to excavate around a foundation and fix the foundation. A machine like this would be perfect to aid in foundation repair. Something cheap and simple he could use instead of going 20-30k into debt to purchase. This is an untapped market of DIY that has historically been priced out of the market.

I have the mini ex that was right behind you when you first started talking to Ken. I got it and the pallet of attachments for $4,000, QK16R. It works okay. I did some upgrades, adding a bunch of hydraulic valves to help smooth out the operation. The tracks are very jumpy, and fine movement is almost impossible to achieve, but it is better than my shovel.

I think the small engine mower repair shops need to become the service centers for them. Same for utv and atv, people are begging for repair shops and the small 3ngine guys need to step up.

A side by side comparison (machine ability, durability, quality of controls, noise, cost to operate) would be immensely helpful.

I looked at getting a bobcat compact tractor with a backhoe. The backhoe attached was an extra 10 grand. 26000 total, I would be a fool to buy that to just work on 1.5 acres

    Hi Tim,
I watch this video on Sunday morning. On my way home from Norther Wisconsin back to Illinois, i passed a big equipment auction yard just North of Wausau, WI. Sure enough were about 6 shipping containers stacked such that there was space underneath them with a lot of small compact excavators and other assorted tiny pieces of equipment. I'm guessing this is the same as what You and Ken saw. Same white containers with side doors.
A couple of years ago, I looked at these Chinese excavators, but ended up purchasing a 4 year old CAT 300.9 excavator with approximately 350 hours on the clock. It's a 1.2 tom machine made by Wacker Neuson in Austria. One thing i really like about it being a CAT machine as parts are available within 24 hours. Going through a Wacker Neuson dealer parts take a lot longer. I got it for a great price but it was still well over 4 times what these Chinese mini's are now going for. I don't regret my decision getting the Cat Excavator. It's a very well built machine.
I've seen a number of video's on YouTube where folks have purchased one of these Chinese machines and for the most part they seem to work, however, it doesn't seem to take much to be able to break something if it is pushed too hard.
I'm really surprised that it hasn't hit the compact tractor market as of yet, but I think it's only a matter of time. One question that I have, is how it will hurt the brands coming out of Korea?
Both john Deere and Kubota have a pretty good following, but I'm sure it will hurt them a bit.
The cost of these machines really make them attractive.
I've actually been eyeing up one of those small mini dumpers!!!
