🚨 If the Police Knock on Your Door — Say THIS (and Never Let Them In Without a Warrant)

There's a knock at your door, and it's the police, and they say four words: "Can we come in?" What you do in the next ten seconds decides whether a search of your home is lawful — or whether you've just handed away one of the oldest, strongest protections you have. Most people simply step aside, because nobody ever told them they had a choice. In this video I show you exactly when the police can enter your home and when they can't — the three things that let them in (consent, a warrant, or a specific power), the consent trap that catches almost everyone, the wrong-house-raid nightmare, and the exact words to say at your own front door. UK law, England & Wales, plain English. I'm Oliver Bennett. For fifteen years I defended people in police stations and courtrooms across England and Wales — and I've heard "but I just let them in, I didn't think I had a choice" far too many times. This isn't legal advice; it's the briefing I wish everyone had before an officer was ever standing on their step.📋 WHAT THIS VIDEO COVERS ✅ The police can only lawfully enter your home with one of three things: your CONSENT, a WARRANT, or a specific legal POWER — there is no fourth ✅ The consent trap: "can we come in?" is a request — say yes, or simply step aside, and you've consented and lost the protection; you can talk on the step instead, and consent can be withdrawn ("please leave now") ✅ The warrant (s.8 PACE) is a document you're entitled to SEE — it names the address and what they're searching for; if it's the wrong address, that can be an unlawful entry / trespass, with a complaint and a civil claim ✅ Powers without a warrant are real and can override your "no": s.17 PACE (to arrest for an indictable offence, recapture an escapee, or save life/limb / prevent serious damage) and s.18 & s.32 after an arrest — but only when the genuine conditions exist; "save life or limb" must be a real emergency, not a pretext ✅ Officers must identify themselves, give the reason, and provide a written record if asked — get it, it's your evidence ✅ What to say at the door: "May I see the warrant?" · "What power are you entering under?" · "Am I under arrest?" · "I don't consent to you entering, but I'm happy to talk out here" — never physically resist; challenge afterwards ⚠️ DISCLAIMER General information on the law of England & Wales — not legal advice. The law can turn on the exact circumstances; if you're arrested or under investigation, get a criminal solicitor and take the free legal advice you're entitled to at the police station. #KnowYourRights #PolicePowers #PowersOfEntry #UKLaw #Section17PACE #SearchWarrant #WrongHouseRaid #CanPoliceEnterMyHome #OliverBennett #KnowYourRightsUK
