🚨 If UK Police Say "We're Seizing the Vehicle" — Say THIS (Before You Get Out)

#KnowYourRights #UKLaw #UKDrivers Most of what an officer says at the side of the road costs you nothing. One sentence costs you money immediately, whether or not you have done anything wrong: "we're seizing the vehicle." £192 to remove it. £26 a day to store it — and the regulation says "for each period of 24 hours OR PART THEREOF," so an hour into a new day is a full £26. You can pay every penny of that having been insured the whole time. This video came out of your comments. Over a thousand of them, and the same question kept appearing: "you're left stranded at the roadside at night, miles from home — what then?" · "you've done nothing wrong, you pay to get home, pay to get to the impound, pay to get the car back — how is this legal?" · "if it WAS insured, can I claim back the storage costs?" What the video covers: — s.165A Road Traffic Act 1988 — and the step almost no driver knows about: before seizing, the constable must WARN you he'll seize the vehicle if evidence isn't produced immediately (unless it's impracticable) — The 90 seconds before it goes: what to take out of the car, why you photograph it, and the one thing to write down — ★ The statutory charges in full, and why the clock starting at noon the next open day makes a Friday seizure the expensive kind — The 14-day deadline nobody mentions at the roadside — after which it can be SOLD — What you must produce to get it back, and the two traps: you need insurance EVEN IF you're only towing it away, and short-term cover of up to ~30 days may not be valid to reclaim a seized vehicle — Why the database is wrong more often than you'd think — a policy that started this morning, a car bought at the weekend, a mid-policy vehicle change ⚠️ THE HONEST BIT: the question everyone asks is whether the £192 and the storage come back when the seizure turns out to have been a mistake. I could not find a published rule that says it does. That is not me saying no route exists — it is me refusing to invent one on a video people act on. What does exist: put it to the force in writing, get the body-worn footage and the officer's notes, complain and then go to the IOPC, and take advice if the sum is significant. And the honest half: uninsured driving is not a paperwork offence — when an uninsured driver hits someone, the person they hit pays for it. Most seizures are entirely correct. This video is for the other person: insured all along, several hundred pounds down, and nobody makes videos for them. Has this happened to you? Tell us what it actually cost, start to finish. 👇 📘 How to get the body-worn footage and the notes of your own stop, free, with the letters written out and the blanks marked: Make Them Pay 👉 https://knowrightsuk.gumroad.com/l/ma...
