  This movie is one of my favorites, not only because of the cast and the movie itself but because I saw in a theater with my dad. Dad was WWII veteran of the European Theater of Operations (ETO), having been awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart. He had been drafted in March of 1941, several months before Pearl Harbor. On December 7th, 1941, Dad was a three stripe Sargent in the 35th Division, stationed at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock, Arkansas.<br>A few minutes into the movie, Dad turned to me and pointed out that the shoulder patch Kelly and the soldiers are wearing is the 35th Division patch. A round insignia with a blue field and crossed lines is very distinctive. The 35th was originally a Missouri National Guard division that had been called up.<br>I always enjoyed getting Dad’s opinion and critique of a WWII movie. This movie opened a “whole can of worms” about the plausibility of the action. As the movie showed, the longer the story went, the more people became involved. Dad said it would have been almost impossible for a scenario like this but he enjoyed it. He “wasn’t makin’ with the negative waves!”<br>Thank you for an entertaining episode that brought back good memories.❤

  Back in the days when the greatest war movies Existed. Kellys Heroes, Where Eagles Dare, The Guns of Navarone, &nbsp;Von Ryans Express, The Great Escape, The Eagle has Landed, Rommel, &nbsp;The Enemy Below, The Battle of the Bulge, etc.

  My favorite thing in the movie was during the showdown with the tiger sequence, and the cinematography and soundtrack switches to Clint Eastwood spaghetti western showdown cliches. An old fashioned Clint Eastwood high noon main street faceoff with a tiger tank. Priceless.

  I love that when they are approaching the Tiger, Oddball opens the flap on his sidearm holster like he&apos;s about to draw on the tank. Classic.
