  It's 1 a.m. In Washington and exhausted after being on my feet all day after processing 60lbs of our homegrown tomatoes to make tomato sauce.

  I’m awake in my warm bed in Colorado . I grew up in the 60s and 70s . Hearing about how my mother told me about being a 50s housewife and hearing and seeing your lovely stories I adore . My mother has passed , makes me understand her a bit better ! Thank you ! Sleeping evades me many nights , your stories calm me

  My mother was a 50’s housewife. She was a debutant whose friends all married men who would become professionals. Our father, it turns out, preferred men to women but in the 1950’s, that was unheard of. After 12 years and 5 kids, they divorced. She was shunned by friends and family for divorcing and was ashamed, so she never told anyone what was behind the divorce. Both of her parents were gone by her early 40’s. Dad wasn’t especially interested in financially supporting us even when they were married and later we pieced together that Grandpa was paying for our Catholic school and big house. The divorce coincided with his passing and the 6 of us moved into a 900 square foot rental. Mom had learned to type and got a job as a secretary and we went to Detroit public schools. There’s no happy ending here. No man swept in to save us. Her friends had the kind of life described here but she did not

  11pm In southern Alabama I’ve found you quite accidentally a few weeks ago.  These stories have become my favorite way to wind down in the late evenings.  I love your voice and the details that you describe.   Thank you so very much for being here for all of us that are restless and need this distraction.

  Louisiana 10:53 pm. It&apos;s very hot and humid, a/c running and an oscillating fan blowing on me. My husband works nights and this is fantastic for helping me wind down and go to sleep.
