"Took an arrow to the shoulder" – it's an old meme, but it checks out.

This man gives some of the best advice for natural lifters in all of YouTube. I always tune in when an Alex Leonidas video pops up. Gold as always!

Your advice for taller lifters benching narrow is extremely spot on. I’m 6ft3 with a 6’6” wingspan and have been struggling with the bench for years using a wider grip until I realised narrower grips feel much more natural and easier on the shoulder joint. Once standardised and practiced enough, I’d argue the narrow grip will help you can GAIN pounds on the lift instead of being 10-15% weaker.

Glad you mentioned shoulder protraction. I had the same thought and did some research as to why you always hear about benching with retracted shoulder blades. You don’t do this on any other press because it is not physically possible. You have to protract when you lockout. That is the function of pressing muscles and the scapulae.

These are golden tips. I've used them all to keep benching and even recover from shoulder issues.<br>As for guillotine bench, guys try to use it to express strength, but it's really a BB focused move.
