  Yes , because Southern and West Coast rap is more based in feeling, direct messaging over "wordplay", and musicality. Southern folks are surrounded by a wide range of music from birth, and are informed by southern music that is often all about difficulty, and repeated phrases meant to cause an emotional response. NYC are overly infatuated with hearing themselves talk.

  In the current era I've notice East Coast bias most prevalently in the ranks of all-time greatest album and artist list of most major publications. Those list usually rank too many New York artist or albums too high on their list, while placing more deserving artist or albums from other regions too low.

  I love NYC. It's like my second home, and I love the people there. I gotta be honest though. They always have their noses up in the air. They think the world revolves around them

  Great topic and great video. I'm from the East Coast and grimey Boom Bap East Coast Hip-Hop is my bread and butter. BUT I absolutely adore Southern and West Coast Hip-Hop and other regions as the Midwest for that matter. I own a plethora of non East Coast albums and I always been this way since the age of 10 in  '95. I see East Coast bias still going on today. Which is pathetic in my personal opinion. This is the main reason why we cover all coasts on my pod, Also Ghetty Green getting two mics and a half in The Source is lame. Such a joke lol.

  Bro, I love this and this needs over 100 million views. The south been running the game since 1997 and it started with Master P and no limit.people don’t realize that the majority of black Americans live in the south, and that’s what we wanted to listen to. We didn’t have a voice in the beginning but when we got our Voice, you couldn’t tell us nothing.if  you look at it, the south makes the most money and it sets the trend. before New York made the most money and set the trend but since 1997, we took over, now the only thing New York really has is politics. Meaning the media .they still won’t give usrespect. you will never see a southern rapper in peoples top 10 or best album of the year or anything like that besides, maybe Lil Wayne Outkast or Scarface. but yes there is bias towards the south. But you can’t do anything about it in the end .the south would never fall because there’s too many Black people living in the south and that’s what we know and love and we like to listen to people who sound like us.
