  She refused to enter the palace and the consort's invitation, which was punished in those days. What happened to her brother was very brutal. It took forever to get an idea why she died in that horrible way. Where were the father's concubinas and children.

  This is a dark story. In the first life, the FL’s family all but sold her to the old Emperor so they could live a comfortable life. She was only fifteen. Her brother then caught the eye of a powerful man who liked men. To save him, she schemed and begged the Emperor and even helped her brother rise to the top of his career. He repaid her by killing her using one of the most excruciating methods — dismemberment by five horses. For those for whom the image isn’t clear, her legs, arms and head were bound and each attached to a horse, which were then pulled in different directions, literally tearing her apart. I am making the imagery vivid because it explains her hatred for her brother and why, in the next life, she no longer protected him, deliberately exposed him to the same man six months earlier and let him face the consequences. O’ her apparent crime against her brother? She made him an official and didn’t let him roam free in the world. If that isn’t a crime deserving death, then I don’t know what is. <br>There are a few issues with the story. First, how come the FL didn’t have to answer the imperial summons to join the palace? Unless it was simply a general summons inviting all young girls to the palace for selection, even then she can’t just not go for no reason. Secondly, in the previous life, it was Prince Qi who gave her brother the men and horses to kill the FL, and later he also gave his brother a fiefdom. Yet in the current life, he is enamoured with her, protects her and even wants to marry her. The contrast is so huge that it can give you whiplash. Also, why doesn’t she hate Prince Qi or ask him even once why he had her killed in the previous life? Lastly, we are left to assume what happened to the supposed parents. I think her father might already be dead and her biological mother was still alive. 🤷🏽‍♀ <br>Personally, I don’t care for the story. There is no reason for it to be this dark, and there is absolutely no satisfaction at the end for the listeners. <br>Strangely, for a story I don’t care about, I seem to have written a very long review.

  It doesn&apos;t always pay to be beautiful regardless of sex. The MC has so much bitterness in her 2nd life and so did the brother in the past, each for their own reasons. He felt that she pushed him to a place he didn&apos;t want to be and she felt she was was honoring her mom&apos;s last request by protecting him as well as she could. There was little to no communication and hard feelings grew as the years passed.

  Wasn&apos;t the prince supposed to like young men? It&apos;s an interesting story but I regret never understanding the motive of the brother that killed her. It makes his suffering harder to accept.

  As much as I feel for the FL, I can&apos;t like someone who pimps a 14yrs old. She was 15 when she entered the palace, I feel terrible for her and glad she can restart but there are other ways to take revenge. Is having her 14yrs old brother get 🍇 the only plot of revenge she can think of?<br>There&apos;s just some lines I really wouldn&apos;t cross or couldn&apos;t like at all. It&apos;s just my opinion and principles. Specially since I&apos;ve been in a group therapy where I&apos;ve met victims of CSA where their family pimped them in the name of family needs.<br><br>Also, if a family said no to the Emperor, usually the family gets punished right?<br>Also if Prince Qi owed her in the last life, why would he still give the brother those five horses. Even if he didn&apos;t know what the brother planned to do, he had his men follow him and also he had his men make her kneel in front of him before handing him over to the brother.<br>Everything in the story is messed up.

  It’s disturbing how much the FL repeats that her brother is 14 years old the whole time that she’s pimping him out.
