  Initially, I was upset that she stayed and allowed them to hurt her again. But after giving it some thought, I realised that she literally had nowhere to go. She could not legally leave the household and simply live somewhere else. It would have been difficult even if she were a legitimate daughter; as a concubine daughter, it was all but impossible. She was essentially treated as property, and her father, who was effectively her master, was an extremely powerful man who was respected throughout the country. <br>I would have been angry with her if she had an avenue to save herself and simply chose not to take it. But she didn’t. Telling her that she should have just left completely ignores the reality of her situation. <br>Here is a simple example of just how trapped and powerless she was. Even after they abused her and broke her hand, with their actions exposed and a prince standing behind her, her so-called family still wasn’t punished. What do you think would have happened if she had simply tried to leave before? <br>Her rebirth unfortunately gave her no advantage in this particular situation. The only option she had was to keep her head down and hope the storm passed. Unfortunately, she was caught in that storm again, but this time she didn’t submit. <br>What matters to me is what she did afterwards. She lost her ability to paint again, but she didn’t give up the artist in her. With the prince’s help and a little guidance, she initially used her exceptional observation skills and knowledge to help him uncover corrupt officials. Later, she found another way to express her talent by taking what once lived on paper and giving it physical form through gardens and buildings. <br>It took a great deal of effort and strength of will, along with a lot of luck and a prince who first became her ally and eventually her family, for her to finally reclaim her agency and her life. Her rebirth may not have saved her from what happened to her, but she made sure it didn’t stop her from building a life afterwards.

  I think the people complaining that she didn&apos;t leave before aren&apos;t quite understanding the situation. If she had anything less than a deliberately smashed hand she would never even have gotten an audience with the prince. She basically belongs to her family until they decide to marry her off. Her father and his wife can treat her more or less as they like. &quot;Daddy&apos;s very cruel to me&quot; isn&apos;t necessarily an accusation the Prince can do anything with, as long as the family could just claim they simply strictly disciplining bad behaviour (which in that society usually meant harsh violence) or that it was the result of her bad luck of being born lowly/being struck by a horse. She needed evidence of deliberate malicious and unjustified harm to get his attention. Anything less than that is useless to him. Similarly she could not have left on her own before that. She belongs to her legal parent&apos;s household. If she ran away, any authorities would have simply returned her and then she would&apos;ve gotten a beating that may have left her even more crippled.<br><br>The only thing that might have worked would&apos;ve been if she started slipping him information from her portrait sessions before that and recruited him as an ally beforehand - then he might have helped her disappear or adopted her to keep her safe - but it&apos;s very clear that she never realised what she&apos;d really seen in those sessions until he helped her understand. On her own, she didn&apos;t know the information was important so she couldn&apos;t do anything with it.

  I think this story held more weight because the heroin didn&apos;t make perfect choices in her second life. i think her growth and and the way she changed even with the same injury were a beautiful change from the usual, perfect revenge second life stories... This one felt more human and real to me. Thank you for sharing.
