  Lived there for a couple years. Absolutely loved it. I miss it. Good small town living in lower lake and the people were so kind. Great community and a lot of history there. Meeting and learning from the people of the Pomo was an experience I will never forget. They are truly amazing people with a great history. Yes there is a lot of horrible things that happened to them, but to learn their culture and history was truly amazing.

  My aunt almost lost her life in the fire.  It burned down the entire area including my aunts cabin,fortunately there were firefighters near that rescued her

  Clearlake (one word, no town of),, &nbsp;I recently ran across and have been viewing some of these posts of Clearlake Ca. (as a whole, not the renamed &quot;Highlands&quot;) and stumbled across the home my folks built back in the 70s (I grew up in) in some heartbreaking drone footage posted by current community action folks (I suppose). Seeing the once beautiful water side homes &amp; area now surrounded by muddy dried up troughs known as &quot;The Keys&quot; in Clearlake Oaks I find it expressively difficult to convey my surprise and disbelief in the current state of my old home town while mentally reconciling we used to swim and fish in these very spots and jumping off the same bridges in the 70s &amp; 80s w/o hitting the bottom..<br>I dropped out of Lower Lake/Carle High and joined the Marine Corps in 82 and left Clearlake behind. Long life story short, I&apos;ve served and been stationed all over this planet as well as &nbsp;combat zones in some of the worst SHoles imaginable however, watching drone footage of Clearlake Oaks, The Keys, and its geographical surroundings, knowing what it used to be, truly broke my heart.. Not so much that it&apos;s gone in as much as I didn&apos;t appreciate it.. I was a dumb ass that just didn&apos;t get it..   This lake used to be awesome . My grandparents owned and built lotowana marina lots of great times there prior to the algae issue !

  Grew up here hasnt changed much, glad to see it. Its a slower way of life for sure.

  Just like any town, you have your good and bad areas. &nbsp;My favorite place to live is the town of Cobb, and Middletown is nice too. &nbsp;I lived in Clearlake and Cobb mountain for years, far as the lake. &nbsp;I never swam in it, I prefer creeks and rivers. &nbsp;I’m trying to move back there now, especially because I know good and bad areas. &nbsp; The drive around the lake is beautiful, and the boat parade on 4th of July was fun too.
