What do you think has changed with food and our eating habits since the 1970s

I follow a strict diet 6 days a week and eat all the bad stuff that I love once a week on cheat day; fast food, sweets, soda, you name it. I'm still a size 4.

Im glad i found this channel. It gives such peaceful vibes of the past, but also is sad to see how most things changed for consumer and greed purposes

The interesting thing about this is I still eat like this today along with working out at the gym. Small portions don’t buy junk food. It makes sense. I

They didn’t have all the chemicals in the food like we do now. They put chemicals in the food to make them more addicting to help their bottom line.

I grew up in the sixties and seventies. I remember sugary foods being marketed to children (like me) from an early age, like Count Chocula and Franken Berry cereal in the early '70s. However, those cereals usually didn't fit Mom's budget and therefore didn't end up in the shopping cart despite I and my siblings' pleading. Hostess and Dolly Madison had outlet stores selling Ho Hos, Ding Dongs and the like, but again they were special treats and not daily snacks. It wasn't that the junk food wasn't available, it just wasn't something you ate every day for economic reasons. What's really changed over the past 40 years is that real (non-processed) food has become far more expensive than processed food, so today's Mom has an easier time meeting the family budget with the unhealthy obesity-inducing processed food.

I also remember a lot of adults smoking instead of snacking, and the second-hand smoke was everywhere. Great for keeping weight off, but not exactly healthy.

I love these videos. There should be also a video about how social eating and table manners have changed since the 1970s (and have been even worse since we recovered from the pandemic in the Early 2020s..)

Yes. I remember drinking from the water hose. Fast food was a Saturday & sometimes Sunday dinner. Sniff. Dessert was rare.
White Castle burgers was something we ate when we were visiting grandparents only once. The rest of the visit was homecook meals.
Then they pull out your tonsils & everything taste better for a long time! And gain weight!
But going to more natural & non-process foods helped along the way to losing it. Cane sugar & other natural sweeteners are less addictive. You'll crave it, but you won't want till the next occasion. When I learned about bad ingredients, I do my best to avoid them.
Thank you, Mexico, for making cane sugar Coca Cola!
