But whether we’re talking about the Pokémon 30th Anniversary, Prismatic Evolutions, reprints, restocks, or the next hyped set, I think too many Pokémon investors are judging long-term investments based on what happens over the next few months. In this rant, I break down why short-term price drops, restocks, and reprints can look scary while creating some of the most interesting long-term opportunities in sealed Pokémon. Prismatic Evolutions is one of the examples, but the bigger conversation is about how quickly sentiment changes once attention moves to something new — like we’re seeing right now with the 30th Anniversary — and what can happen when older products eventually leave rotation and supply starts getting absorbed.
