No need to apologise for getting a bit emotional Wayne! After all this is why we travel, to evoke such euphoria! And this is why we love the authenticity of your posts. They’re real and in the moment. And if you didn’t love engaging with people so much then they wouldn’t talk to you 😊 As the great JT said “Shower the People”.

I’m in a southern Thai village not far from Malaysia, zero tourists…today I spent 2 hours drinking tea with a fourth generation Chinese medicine shop owner and family, listening to the history of the town from their perspective,it probably isn’t everyone’s idea of a perfect day but it does it for me.
Nice video Wayne, good to know I’m not the only one that rates the human interaction highly

As a regular visitor to Indonesia, and having an Indonesian daughter In Law, they are the most beautiful, friendly people in the World, in my opinion. They just ooze love and respect. Western countries like Australia, America and many countries in Europe, could learn some much from these people. Keep it simple and appreciate the small things in life. Great video.

I find it rather fascinating to gain the perspective of a Western tourist regarding my hometown. Being a native of Kabanjahe myself, I am usually on the other side of such encounters — among those whom visitors meet. But on this occasion, I’ve had the unique pleasure of experiencing my region through the eyes of a foreign guest. It fills me with pride and genuine delight to know that you were met with warmth and kindness by my fellow townspeople. I do hope that one day, you shall find your way back to Karo once more.

Ah, the warm, wonderful sensation of travel serendipity that surrounds you when your expectations are abundantly exceeded by the actual experience! Don't apologize Wayne - revel in it, cup it in your hands, drink it in, and savor it. That memory is yours now to cherish and share. Thank you for sharing that with us.

It is refreshing to watch something that isn't seeking to be emotionally extreme or progress the narrative that you have material wealth to be happy.

Wayne, it's likely that locals are super friendly because you bother to speak their language. When we lived overseas for 7 years, the locals really appreciated us trying to speak the language. It makes a huge difference. Plus, you show interest in their business. Take some credit, you're a super tourist! 😊

The lady in the noodle shop 'just for a moment'. Such a good level of English. How lucky we are to have English as our first language so that pretty well anywhere we go SOMEONE will speak with us! 😊
This vlog was a joy all round Wayne - thank you!
