"Are you religious?"
"Yes. No. Kind of? It involves a depressed turtle. It's . . . complicated"

"Sometimes the wall isn't there to bang your head on but rest your head against for a while." - that is a quote worth writing down and remembering

I like this turtle guy. His writing has a lot of charm to it, like a stream of consciousness that feels centered, vulnerable, and relatable. Unlike the 99% of other videos I forget after watching, his actually have a profound impact, so authentic it's hard not to remember.

He apparently can't write a book but he can write 2 of the best stories I have ever heard written.

It's always a bit mythical to have this metaphysical tortoise appear in my life once a year or so to bestow some new wisdom and then disappear back into the philosophical realm (probably a pub) where it lies for another year.

I came here on a separate channel to avoid any self promo, this is just me on an anonymous account, but I wanted to say you inspired me to do more writing and even content creation. My actual account is now almost to the point it can support me full time. So thank you, it’s crazy what just listening to a British man ramble for a half hour or so a few times each year can do 🍻

6:00 "Suffering felt important, and no one ever suffered for no reason, except for the entirety of human history" is weirdly life-affirming
