  I was an engineering student back in the early 60s. &nbsp;I had played violin in Jr. High and decided to take &quot;Larger Musical Forms&quot; as an elective - even though it was intended for music majors.<br>One of the assignments was the Beethoven Violin Concerto in D, as played by Heifetz and Milstein.<br>After the week, the teacher asked which recording we each preferred. &nbsp;I was the only one who chose Milstein&apos;s. &nbsp;Even the teacher chose Heifetz. &nbsp;My comment was, &quot;Heifetz beats the Hell out of his violin. &nbsp;Milstein plays it pure.&quot; &nbsp; That was 56 years ago. &nbsp;I still think I was right.

  I can not count the times how often I saw this retrospective of NM. I had the fortune to play in a concert together with him, me in the orchestra.

  his last concert at 82.... is one of &nbsp;kind. people that age barely walk !!!

  Always a favorite of mine.( I am 85 and first heard him probably 75 &nbsp;years ago and finally a memorable concert when he was in his 80&apos;s). Thanks YouTube for this wonderful presentation.

  I keep watching this video over years... Even his speech makes makes me feel pleased, better than my mum&apos;s lullaby. Sorry mum.... And now I am over 60 years old. I should have found this video earlier!

  I love how Milstein recounts meeting Vladimir Horowitz - &quot;I came for tea and stayed for three years.&quot; &nbsp;It must have been something to be in that house.

  He is so magnificent!!! &nbsp;So beautiful in his early life. &nbsp;The world is so fortunate to have such a wonderful musician!!!! &nbsp; To think someone can play so beautifully at a later age.

  i once heard Milstein comment on how strange it sometimes seems that he would stand on a stage and make all of those sounds come out of a wooden box. i did hoped to see that in this documentary but did not. anyone else ever see this?

  The story about Rachmaninov was very pleasing. &nbsp;R. was a great composer and pianist, and was a sensitive artist. &nbsp;It&apos;s great that he had such integrity.

  Ho avuto la fortuna di sentire tanti anni fa Milstein alla Scala suonare il concerto di Beethoven e mi ha catturato per sempre. Milstein è musica, arte, poesia è un violinista perfetto, diverso da tutti gli altri. Ringrazio per questa sensibile e profonda presentazione.

  He was so absolutely beautiful in his younger years &nbsp;and so interesting as a person who has had such a wonderful background with very famous characters, some of which were family of the royal family.
