    Not a word about Carlo Bergonzi which are more rare and had Stradivarius work in his shop and provided all the tools, knowledge and wood for him.

    I have the heart and soul of an individual who wants to build something from wood. but alas the body of and 83 yr old . So Time will not let me do what my heart wants to. but I can do that vicariously through video&apos;s like these. Thank you from and old soul. that wishes. but can only dream the dream till the time runs out. Thanks for forfilling my dreams in that respect. ECF

    I read somewhere that there are a number of players who consider the sounds of a Stradivarius too brittle and don&apos;t like it.<br>Everybody have their tastes, &nbsp;I guess.

    The most controlled experiments showed that Strad instruments are mostly NOT preferred over fine modern instruments.

    When I was a boy my uncle would go to the woods a select a tree for his next violin this was always done in the winter no sap was running and always from a valley with a very heavy snow loud he would bang on the tree with a a log and listen then the tree would be fallen and let dry for two years before it was milled to lumber during this period the log was kept on logs support of the ground where he would bang on the log as it dried listening to tones paying attention to the log as it was milled selecting quarter or rift saw materials again bang wood with wood to hear tone he would select his pieces of materials I wish he had lived longer I would have experienced more opportunities to learn
