The Dr. was very knowledgeable. Thank you for having him on to talk about FFMass vs. Muscle mass. I think we all need to breathe a sigh of relief. We will not waste away....

So very tired of the muscle loss fear mongering on social media that insists I must work out like a maniac & eat inordinate amounts of protein in order to consider my glp journey successful. Function & a balanced life is a much better and more realistic goal for those of us with real lives. Cant wait to see what Dr Langer’s future research shows us. Thank you for this!

I watched him Dr. Nadosky's podcast and it seems like you allowed him more lattitude to present the data, it was way easier to follow today. Thanks a bunch.

This was a great interview. I was happy to hear Dr. Langer talk about the difference between "lean mass" and "muscle." I often hear people interpreting their "lean mass" (from a DEXA scan or home scale) as muscle, which isn't accurate. Lean mass is muscle + organs + water (excludes bone and all fat), so your hydration level alone can greatly skew this data.

It's also nice to hear him confirm that GLP-1s aren't causing muscle loss. I think most of us understand that weight loss (no matter the method) can lead to muscle loss. One thing he didn't discuss was the fact that aging alone can lead to muscle loss, so resistance training, mobility, and, to some extent, cardio are important regardless of weight loss.

About your pickleball friend... evidently, with the current popularity of pickleball, the ER is seeing lots of injuries. These mostly seem to come from older people who are all of a sudden taking up a sport, but don't actually have the balance and/or strength to play as aggressively as their brains think they can.

I hope Dr. Langer comes back with more info soon. This was a very technical conversation that you navigated well in a way that we could understand.

Well done Christopher. This was a superb interview. Dr Langer is so eloquent and you helped him to express his scientific insights. I never thought I would hear "of mice or men' in open dialogue.

I am such a geek and love learning about the research and what is happening within our bodies. Thank you for bringing this to us. I studied Botany and know about the mitochondria are the power house of the living entity.

Great interview and information.
What seems clear is the combination of GLP-1 with better exercise and better eating habits is the optimal strategy.

Great interview! As someone who has been in medical research for the past 20 years, I was very concerned about losing muscle when I started a GLP-1. 7 months in, I’m almost 80 pounds down on Wegovy and I’ve actually gained three pounds of muscle. That’s without strenght training. So, for me, so far, my results seem pretty in line with those of the studies discussed during the interview. I enjoy your channel. Thank you!
