The kid who hid in the car in season 1 not describing him to the sketch artist was the most impossibly lucky part of the show

3:36 the algae wasn’t growing on the bags and remaining body parts, it was growing on the rocks Dexter took from his marina to weigh the bags down. Just like Masuka said “it’s all about the rocks baby”.. and they didn’t subpoena video footage from his marina, they set up their own surveillance because as Deb put it “security out there sucks ass” referring to the fact that there were no security measures at his marina, and Dexters inner monologue says “yea, that’s why I chose it”.

Doakes didn't headbutt Dexter. He attacked him in a blind rage in front of everyone. Dexter headbutted Doakes prior to the attack to get him into a rage.

You genuinely reiterated every point five times in a row before moving on

The blood slides can’t be evidence in S2 bc Doakes obtained them illegally. It would certainly raise questions and they might look onto Dexter/watch him but it wouldn’t cause his immediate arrest

after a recent rewatch, writers def relied way too much on luck, and dexter didn't learn as much from past mistakes. see seasons 3-5 for example. there was no consequences for dexter after seeing that partnering up and getting involved with other killers was bad idea.

I kind of refer to his comments after Doakes is killed. Something like "If you believe in heaven and miracles surely the Devil has a few up his sleeve" Maybe it's not all luck...

These close calls and "plot armor" is to keep the audience on edge and keep em wondering when Dexter will slip up, nobody wants to watch a show without a little plot armour like this

Don't forget about Trinity with the shovel that Dexter tossed right next to him after knocking him out for just a few seconds. Trinity got up and silently disappeared from the scene instead of using the shovel on Dexter who had every bit of his attention on pulling a boy out of a pool of cement and facing the ground while bent over.
