Every up-and-coming should watch this game to see how much bird controlled things. He was everywhere in stats that don’t count.

That was exciting as hell. Thanks. These guys are big and the defense and rebounding is ferocious.

Fantastic game, a real nailbiter, unlike the first two games in this series. I was thrilled to see the Rockets absolutely ambush the Celtics from the get-go and hold the lead for the first half.  Oddly enough, the Celtics ran the fast break really well in the first period nearly as well as the Rockets, they just couldn't hold up in that mode. I found it peculiar that the first game the Rockets won against the Celtics was one where Hakeem Olajuwon gave a very underwhelming performance where he had excelled in the first two games despite his team's failure. Odd how Olajuwon and Parish completely cancelled each other out. If Olajuwon had an underwhelming performance, Parish completely blew it. Some of the Celtics played fantastically though, McHale played well, Dennis Johnson played really well, and Bird played incredibly, the 15 rebounds in particular was impressive. Without a doubt Ralph Sampson was the MVP though. I understand why he played power forward to Hakeem' s center, but I like the piss and vinegar Sampson played with when he was at the center position. Monster, monster game from Sampson. While Olajuwon was a beast at this time and obviously the greater center, Sampson was probably the more important Tower in Houston's search for a championship in 1986.

i was 11 yrs old when i saw this game. today its so nice to see these videos and see the refs knowing the rules and the game being played as it was supposed to be, fast, hard, defense, drama and on CBS, the good ol days. I never liked Tommy Heison because he was always going for boston, but i miss all these guys calling the game
