  It’s definitely suspicious that Billy the kid’s body wasn’t on public display the next day as was routinely done with killed outlaws, but was quickly buried within 24 hours.

  Billy's brother, Joseph Antrim, died in Denver Colorado on November 25, 1930. Melvin Lewis cemetery is where he is buried.

  If Billy the kid died. That day. And brushy bill Robert’s was Billythe kid why would they have the same dna ??

  Regardless of wether he lived or died at Ft. Sumner is irrelevant. Although I do believe Brushy Bill was Billy.. the crazy part is that way over one hundred years have gone by and we’re still talking about him. One word… LEGENDARY! His memory living on forever.

  Garrett shot Billy Barlow that night. Billy died in front of the Hico Texas Post office in 1949.

  It's weird how stories change through time. I wish I had the newspaper but my great grandfather was 102 when he died in 1976. And the "Gazette paper" he had said Sheriff Pat Garrett killed Billy the kid while he was armed with only a knife because he went to ask Pete Maxwell about some food. It absolutely makes no sense for Billy the kid to enter his bedroom with a gun in his hand. Without the paper, it's just a story, but that's what I read.

  I love the story &amp; the mystery of the whole story <br> The wife &amp; I are from Amarillo we took my mother to Fort Sumer to the Billy the kid museum, for a day trip

  Just a note after viewing this story, from what I have read in various books and articles. Big factor was Garrett shot Billy with a shotgun, thus marksmenship in the dark viable. Also Pat was holding Maxwell at gunpoint in his room, &nbsp;more than likely why he did not do something to save Billy.

  A few problems. Nobody attempted to dig up Billy the Kid&apos;s mother&apos;s grave. Silver City would not let them. Nobody ever dug up Brushy Bill&apos;s grave. However, they did dig up John Miller&apos;s grave and did get DNA samples. Nobody dug up the grave in Fort Sumner because the officials in Fort Sumner wouldn&apos;t let them. All that I&apos;ve said is well-documented. Not sure where this person got their information from.
