  This is the first video I ever watched by you, and my god this is excellent content. not only the repair and retrofit for the camera, but the extensive historical dive into a company no one even knows about.  I have no words. One oddball tech collector to another, great job.

  The heater and blower are meant to prevent the dome from fogging up. Some modern PTZ cameras even have wiper blades to keep the lens clean.

  before my dad passed away, he used to work for a division of Moog, his division made actuators for machinery and the military. I was actually just at there 20 year company party, met the plant administrator and everything. They&apos;re a pretty cool and interesting company.

  I installed loads of PTZ dome cameras in the 1980s and 90s, and it looks like the technology didn&apos;t advance much in the next 20 years, although today&apos;s cameras are way more complicated. One of the amusing failure modes was when a limit switch failed, allowing the camera to continue rotating in the same direction until it ripped the wires out of the wall. If you ever see a camera with the cables wrapped round and round it, that&apos;s what&apos;s happened. Other posts mention the use of scissor lifts and cherry pickers, but health and safety wasn&apos;t a thing back then, so installation and maintenance was done using 25-foot ladders, which could get a bit hairy.
