I remembered Kikuo talking in one of his videos that his teacher stopped him from learning music theory because that would make his music boring or would ruin his style, which is why his music can be thought of as something unusual.

super glad to see hole dwelling getting love, a shame you missed the lyrics though. the mix of horror vibe and tropical vibe to me is for the feeling of being pulled into a cult and spiralling, like the mix of paradise and hell or something like that

Lmao I love how you describe kikuo's song as "tropical horror song" cus it strangely sounds like so the more I listen to it. The guy also made the well known creepy Aishite, Aishite song. I gotta say though, imo listening to kikuo songs, it's more of an 'experience' rather than just listening. I learned to appreciate his instrumentals more than the vocaloid cus u just can't expect what type of things he's gonna throw into the song. One day he might throw in an accordian, the next day might be a xylophone lol

Fun fact, the gong sound in World's End Dancehall is only exclusive to the game when you managed to hit all the special combo hit.

I absolutely LOVE it watching people fall in love with Giga's music. His songs and arrangements never fail to get my heart pounding from the hype and energy.

I love a good Kikuo reaction; always fun to see what people make of his absolutely nuts compositions. Weird melodies, weird sounds, weird songwriting, it's all just weird. You love to see it.

A personal favourite of mine is The Cat's Dining Table

 Yay!
What I really like about Matryoshska is how the distortion on the vocals is almost identical to the distortion on the guitar. This combined with the "percussive" vocal delivery typical of early Vocaloid creates a very cool effect, everything is in synch. Creative way to play to Vocaloid's strengths.

And yeah, you can usually tell what a producer's main instrument is lol.

The craziest thing about Kikuo isn't how unhinged and experimental his composition is, but that he somehow always manages to make it catchy as hell. And regarding the panning, some Kikuo songs actually simulate footsteps running across behind you. One that features it is called "The Cat's Dining Table" IIRC.

Reol and Giga used to be a duo back in the day!

Hoping for more reactions to Kikuo! Everyone knew his "aishite aishite" song but there are a lot of song experimental af like "kara kara no kara" and pop-ish like "yoru no uta".
I went to his concert last year and it was awesome. Great remixes, transitions and visual.
If you're curious about his production process he uploaded a video from his first songs until the new ones of that time

16:50 Several of Kikuo's songs actually sound very happy or cute, but his lyrics are too dark.
I think Kikuo's scariest song is "Gomenne Gomenne", both for the instrumental and the lyrics

The "marimba" section in hole dwelling isn't actually a marimba but a cool instrument called the "steel pan"
