Growing up my dad was abusive. Then I was abused by others. I would sing this and think, my hands are small but they are my own. And they can’t ever take them from me. So Because of this song I started writing poetry. 💚

It doesn't seem possible that this song is 25 years old. Jewel is my absolute favorite singer and solo artist.

My mom & I used to sing this together in the car when I was little. I cherish this a little more & love when my daughter begs me to play grandma's song when we're driving. She passed unexpectedly at 47 years young this year & I still don't know how to function correctly. Looking for guidance in memories 😭
