📘 One of our most meaningful books yet is finally here. The Ache We Hide is a powerful, deeply relatable read you may see yourself in:
https://ko-fi.com/apexpsychology/link/APEX30

🎙 Watch and listen on Spotify:
https://open.spotify.com/show/033M3HopSf4s6WN0AMdctx

This explains why being highly observant can feel more exhausting than empowering. The part about your “radar” turning into paranoia hit hard.

i would almost never wish for the ability to read people's minds but many times i want to see from other's perspective to expand my own vision

The less people are involved, the less of a chance they have to mess things up for me. It's exhausting, because of the fact that we're human and at times we make mistakes and generally mess up. This just adds weight to things that are normal. Something I'm learning now, by allowing more people to be close.

The part about hiding it hit hardest. Reading the room accurately is exhausting when you also have to pretend you didn't notice, so people just go quiet and get called cold.

i have learnt to switch off my brain. i try to be idiot most of the time, really keeps me happy. overthinking and overanalyzing everyone around is awful and exhausting.

This hit way harder than I expected. The part about hypervigilance being “survival that hardened into instinct” really stuck with me. Sometimes you’re not trying to analyze people—you just notice everything automatically, and it’s exhausting. The hardest part is realizing that being able to spot patterns in people doesn’t mean every feeling or suspicion is always true.

Learning to observe without judging and using that sensitivity to find genuinely safe people instead of building walls around everyone… that’s probably the healthiest takeaway here. Incredible video.

Brilliant video.. you described me to a T.. at first I was watching the video and judging it harshly because you never use the words "empath" or "empathy" but then when you went into the self-sabatoging aspect of my "gift" and how to fix it you gave me a roadmap, a blueprint that I never heard before.. THANK YOU!

It's going to take work to perfect it in my life but now at least I have more clarity and a way to be a better caretaker in my close personal relationships.

I believe that people who can read others' minds do so because they have gained enough experience to truly understand the person across from them.
