I met a .30/06 shooter who went for everything... HE BOUGHT 145 AND 150 GRAIN MILITARY POINTS TO HUNT, 150 MACH FOR COMPETITIONS, HE SHOT EVERYTHING AT EVERY DISTANCE WITHOUT A RANGEFINDER... he had been using one load for 45 years... yes, I will tell you what this shooter passed on to me... 'TO HELL WITH VERSATILITY'... I've been using a single load for my .270 for 16 years and I usually shoot everything with it... if you can shoot a .30/06 in a light rifle, go for it; keep in mind that when you get older it gets harder... if not, switch to the .270, and if that’s still too much, go down to the 25/06.

3006 because I occasionally hunt elk. Ive shot coyote and up with both. I prefer 3006 when hunting elk. Ive never hunted moose or brown bear. But at least I could. Having said that, I love the 270 for less than elk

both are great calibers, i am bias i hunt with 30.06. it’s available and it’s one of those calibers, that can be loaded all the way down to 110 grains. and those loads zip 3000fps. Game won’t know what hit them , use whatever caliber you like the most.

With good shot placement the 270 is better (flatter shooting less recoil) shooting game at odd angles with 180 grain bullets then the 06 is better. All three of my sons and my wife shoot the 270 and shoot it very accurately. I think it’s all about how you hunt and what you expect a rifle to do.

What a load of click bait BS. These rifles are pretty close an cover a similar list of game animals so yopu can hardly ever go wrong. If you are really looking for the extremes of the performance envelope and you need range for smaller game, a 134 or 140 gr and plenty of powder is what you need. If something heavy and closer then the 30-06. Even the less than mentally agile should be able to work that out. So how do hunters get it wrong???
