  Brilliant 👍 I'm a gold prospector and can read a river to find the shiny but this has opened my mind to now read land because like you said about the iron the same applies to parts of ancient rivers up the bank where plants and trees are growing in cracks full of iron stone and gold ride's on an iron horse. Quartz is a very good indicator so dig deeper than it and you usually find gold 👌 cheers fella, that gets a sub from me ❤️💛💚

  Hi,I'm a opal miner at Lightning ridge NSW all my life and my father mined 50 years here as well,my father found the famous Haley's comment largest black opal nodgle over 2000 CTS My father worked in Norseman WA 1960s when he was a young man,his name was Gary Stone and two of his inventions revolutionised the Black opal mining industry  in Lightning ridge , the underground hydraulic digger backo type not the (Rotary digger)and the agitator for processing two ideas made it 100 times quicker and easier to find the opal, I have a mine exactly how  you are describing I have worked four claims up to this claim not good but now the level has dropped lower  and there is a line of gum trees straight line and the level starts to  pinch out right along the gum trees  and there is opal and faulting just like you described,my farther seen a lot of gold underground said they were following a pipe of gold at Norseman 12 to 13 inch solid pipe of gold that just  keeps going don't stop ,I have worked in big gold mines too Orange NSW Cadia mine  mainly on the bottom level at 1600 meter level My father said they were a mile deep (1600) over in  WA , water going down faulting and big gravelly  blows (verticals )  not all ,the right ones with the right ingredients, (just like a cake) created the opal , that filled in voids thousands or millions of years ago that silicified into black opal nodules and seems

  Here in America, the Spaniards would look for trees with brown leaves. Meaning the Gold or Silver was seeping into the roots of the trees. The Spanish wrote a book about it. Look for a video from Terry Carter and the arborist.

  I'm a student of Environmental Earth Science at JCU for 12 years. Love geology and prospecting. Mate you hit the nail on the head. I mapped out around Charter towers. The surface geology out there is remarkable. Same along the shear zone out at Chillagoe and Hughenden. I also studied geomorphology which is also a big eye opener. It's all there to be read, if you learn to read it.
