  My mother in law looked like Princess Dianna in her dress, she gave it to me, told me to do what ever I liked with it. I put it on in its original state before altering it, she laughed so hard watching me TRY to walk around in it. For the next 2 weeks she watched me rip that dress apart and rebuild it from the ground up. I showed her and mother my dress after I was finished and we all cried like a bunch of big babies. They told me how proud they were of me and the job I did. I will forever be grateful to my mother in law for that!

  Was a guest at a friend's wedding. They told me the bridesmaids dresses/decorations were purple (my fav colour) and please don't wear it. Wore a green dress, didn't love it but was entirely suitable. Friends got married. Great wedding. They loved their day. What is so hard about respecting someone else's wishes on their special day

  The blind bride story is extra gross because you don't wear white to a wedding as a show of respect to the bride and groom. It's not just if you think you'll show up the bride or confuse the guests, it's literally a rule of etiquette that shows a deference to the party hosts. But OP not only didn't respect that rule, she specifically disrespected the couple BECAUSE they were blind. It's a level of entitlement and ableism that's absolutely nasty.

  If the mom in the first story was homophobic, she wouldn't be paying for the wedding and wouldn't be so supportive. Not wanting to give someone a possession because you know they are going to alter it completely, isn't being homophobic and anyone who accused her of such things are ridiculous. Reddit is gonna reddit, I guess.

  My mom died and my step brother decided to schedule his wedding on my mom’s birthday several years later. I warned him about it and while he didn’t reschedule he was very understanding if I didn’t want to come. I went for an hour to the wedding and became so grief stricken I had to sneak out halfway through the family photos. He and his wife were just so happy I showed at all. My dad even helped me escape without making a disturbance. I was so validated by them. That’s the way to handle something like this. You don’t have to cater to everyone but damn, be kind! It’s called familial love.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViAYY8Bk2Zc&amp;t=1980">33:00</a> there&apos;s actually NO reason a bridesmaid should&apos;ve even been that close to the dress at all, with or without the wine, without the bride being in it or around-- but even MORE of a reason for them not to have opened up wine in the bridal suite WITHOUT the bride even being there at ALL. I&apos;ve met toddlers with more spatial and social awareness which screams to me that this bridesmaid INTENTIONALLY spilled the wine, especially given how defensive she got after the fact.

  I guarantee you the bridesmaids who were upset with the bride who kicked the one girl out of the wedding for spilling wine on her mother&apos;s dress were mocking the bride behind her back for being so anal about not wanting anything near the dress that could possibly ruin it. I&apos;d bet money on it. They were 100% laughing while &quot;pretending&quot; to spill wine near it until one of the girls actually DID spill accidentally. THAT&apos;S why the other bridesmaids were upset at the bride. They knew it could&apos;ve been any one of them who got booted from the wedding.
