I already thought Messi was the goat before the WC started. Now we need a word that better captures what he has elevated himself too. Nothing like it in my 60 year lifetime of watching footbal

"We are going to war with Messi"
"If he lost the ball, we dont ask why. WE FIND A WAY TO TAKE IT BACK FOR LEO BECAUSE ONE MOMENT FROM HIM IS MAGICAL"

People keep judging Argentina after the first half. By the final whistle, it's a different story. Four straight comebacks have shown that this team knows exactly when to turn the game on.

The Lautaro’s goal is a Gps assist from the greatest of all time. What a precision, what a pass❤🎉

One of the most intimidating things to see is Lionel Messi leading an Army of tatted up Argentinian players who are willing to die on that pitch for their country.

People will throw his age of "39" out there, but it still doesn't fully put into context just how unprecedented & absurd what we're witnessing is... Messi had ALREADY played more total career mins than Ryan Giggs' entire 24 season career, prior to the LAST world cup in 2022... 😂
At this point... he's at about 100,000 career mins, when Giggs (The epitome of longevity in British football) didn't even play 80,000...
And yet Messi isn't JUST still an active player... He's actively LEADING the current World Cup in goal contributions 😂Truly one of a kind...
