It is true regarding the power of attorney. When my mother died, even though I had power of attorney, that failed to be legal on her death. Regarding payment of funeral expenses, her bank paid the funeral directors directly from her account,

When my brother died I as executor in his will went to his bank Lloyds and they released money for his funeral by paying the funeral company by cheque. So there can be flexibility.

Attempted to put in place with Barclays the Rights of survivorship. I was told that I would need to have a Power of Attorney in order to do this and that Barclays had no other administrative way of a third party getting access to my finances after my demise !!<br>Is this not the opposite of the info you were describing ?
