Honestly that drunken nap situation gave me drug vibes and I think it did to madison too which is why she freaked out

Joe is the type of bro that cares more about his buddies opinions and doesn't make authentic decisions for himself.

How Joe behaved at the party and then again after he woke up from the nap reminded me so much of my ex who would do cocaine and drink too much. He'd get out of hand, push everyone's boundaries with his jokes, put himself to bed and then be severely messed up about where he was, the time, what had happened, etc.

I honestly didn't think Maddison overreacted because Joe seemed to have gone on a bender with no thought spared for her when they're on tv possibly getting married.

I feel like, had he been physically attracted to her, he would have stuck around as long as he did in his 5 year relationship, which still ended up in a break up.

I knew from the moment when Joe referred to Madison as “that,” after the reveal that he was not in it. Similar to when Kacie saw Patrick. When the doors were about to close and Kacie was no longer visible to Patrick as he glanced over his shoulder to look back in I her direction, I knew Kacie was not in it.

My thing is why even go on the show if you aren't attracted to a range of people. Madison isn't even very big, so for him to say he's usually attracted to thinner women makes it seem to me that he has a very specific type. I know that a lot of men don't apply and are instead asked by producers to be on the show, but I still wish that they would reflect beforehand about if they could see themselves being attracted to a variety of people. I think the taboo-ness of talking about attraction causes a ton of issues in the show. Attraction has played a major role in a ton of the couples not lasting, but I think the pressure from production to stay together makes a lot of the people who aren't attracted to their partner look way worse than if they just broke up initially. I think its unfortunate that so many people that go on this show would rather avoid the topic of attraction entirely. So many couples could have not wasted each others time if they felt comfortable enough to question the issues in their relationship and end it when they know it won't work

Joe demonstrates the concern I have with most LIB men, which is that they are recruited for the show and have never watched it.

"They want that future so badly that they don't pay attention to what the person is saying". Yep and I think we saw this in the UK season with Asheleigh / Billy and Sarover / Kal as well (which you covered). In those cases it wasn't lack of physical attraction but the outcome was quite similar. Ash wasn't listening to Billy's reservations about her job, Sarover wasn't listening to Kal talking about his sketchy commitment history.
I"m actually glad Joe ended things before the aisle unlike Billy / Kal who actually got married then had to get a divorce 3 months later.

I really think reality TV can hold a bit of a mirror to our own behaviours in relationships which is probably why the audience can be so critical!
I know that I've behaved a little like Joe and a little like Madison in past relationships. I've been a bit too needy with someone I can sense is pulling away. I've also forced myself to be with someone I wasn't completely into and then noticed myself detaching and not giving them the reassurance they need.
Some of these scenes can be uncomfortable to watch as I can see my past self in both of these people (and others on these shows too). In truth, neither Madison nor Joe is a villain in my opinion and they can represent a lot of us at various different times in our lives.

Joe is your typical frat boy tbh. Emotionally immature and closed off, 'Okay, woman', with a touch of sexism, doesn't want to take any responsibility or take on an emotionally caring role, bad at communicating, etc. How can people like this have the confidence to marry a person? He's anything but marriage material, and a bit overly confident in himself, which is annoying.

I think it's valid Madison was freaked out by him getting so blackout drunk he didn't realize what day it was, and sure, she could've kept her cool, but you have to remember, the contestants are already put under a lot of pressure on the show, they're in foreign environments, engaged with strangers, so I can imagine she was already very stressed. It's imo embarrassing to get so drunk in front of your fiance, and concerning, too. I would've left him then and there. He's absolutely not worth the trouble. Madison dodged a bullet.

I was eagerly waiting for your analysis and couldn’t agree more. Joe looked like he disassociated every time Madison would start to have some BIG emotions. He also couldn’t articulate how he felt very well. All I kept thinking is that they both need therapy lol
