They should have just stuck with Snoke and built him up as a proper villain

The Snoke=Plagueis was such a great theory, it becoming true could have been mindblowing.

I just don’t count the Disney sequels. Palps died when ANAKIN sacrificed his life and in doing so saved LUKE.

Somehow. The answer is 'somehow'. That's canon.

What would you rather - Snoke is a ancient cosmic being that originates from somewhere outside of the Galaxy, who is highly powerful in the Darkside and who has discovered the starwars Galaxy for the first time. <br><br>or<br><br>"Somehow Palpatine returned...."

Prolonging Palpatine through all 9 episodes made him the main character

Both Rise of Skywalker and Dark Empire would have made more sense if it had been Plagueis instead of Palpatine who'd played 4D chess and anticipated his betrayal

He fell out of the Death Star, spent 32 years force healing his body and then found a comfy chair (a perfect size for his little body).
