As a kid I easily looked over the difficulty spike it had in some levels and I only struggled a little it with trying to save all reploids the first time. I guess i find the difficulty its known for to actually make for a good challenge rather than something to despise, so even now I dont hate X6. Only certain stuff like the sluggish pacing from X5 what with Alia always interrupting at every damn second and the whole rng with stopping the colony, thats the type of stuff I hate in a game. I dont mind stuff in this game like the donut spam in Heatnix's stage since a lot of stuff doesn't interrupt the pacing overall. Also tbh I remember as a kid always thinking the teleporting of the totems in Scaravich's level was based on what part of the totem you touch. Lol

Everything he remembers came in fragmented pieces, so he makes stuff up. That's always his thing. Zero has no idea who fixed him. On the other hand, the game introduced Isoc, who insisted that Zero isn't "some reploid who would die in a trivial battle" and "I know him (Zero) inside out". It's very clear that Isoc fixed Zero. Basically... "hid myself and repaired myself" is just a very badly translated line, which Zero probably said to keep X from worrying about him. Like you said, Zero lies. A lot.

"This character is actually Dr. Wily because he can put his mind in robot bodies because he apparently found a way to do that when he was like 70 years old and effectively became immortal" is such an insane plot detail to just leave in the background and lightly gesture towards but never attempt to address or explain or resolve, and they did it fucking TWICE You can clear the gap in the second fortress stage in the normal way with the shadow armor if you have the jumper part equipped, which is still stupid but slightly less so I guess. I have no proof of this but I think there was a mistake in the code that no one noticed and it is sending X and Zero to each other's sections, because while its not impossible for Zero to get through his it is also very badly designed for him because the crusher section basically forces him to take chip damage, but he could clear the jump in X's section with nothing equipped

X6 was the 2md megaman X game I played. I remember the first time I beat the whole game. I didnt have a memory card and I was home sick from school. Gate's laboratory was so hard

I once read a comment about Zero's line about hiding and repairing. It said something along the lines of even Zero himself isn't really sure how he came back, so he's basically just brushing off the question. Until I learn of a better explanation, I'm going with that one.

Without Rockman X6, we wouldn't get Rekkoha let's be real here. Though honestly if not for the fact Sigma was always the final boss in every X game, 6's plot would heavily benefit from it along with some other changes that would've been great.

Aside from the zero revival/death retcon,  the story and atmosphere is incredible. The new devs who picked up the game (totally different from x4 and x5 team), did an amazing job of continuing the post apocalyptic/ morbid storyline. The bleak outcomes, feeling of despair, and all the dying reploids really sets the tone perfectly for the transition into the zero series.

Yo, an artist for X6 tweaks (did the new mugshots!) always great to see that amazing hack by Acediez being recognized, it really is transformative for a game I already felt was overhated.
