"EXODUS DID NOT FAIL!" - Firstly, it's ALARMING how many people read three words and assume that is the ENTIRE STORY, and seemingly don't understand there may be some CONTEXT to the statement. <br><br>Did Exodus fail at becoming an influential Thrash band? NO<br>Did Exodus fail at releasing phenominal Thrash records? NO<br>Did Exodus fail at having a long career? NO<br><br>Exodus wanted to reach the same, or similar heights as Slayer and Metallica, Gary Holt has literally stated this in his biography. They actively signed to Capitol Records, a major label, in the hopes of acheiving the same commercial success, or at least something similar. Again, Gary Holt said this. <br><br>Gary Holt also said he wanted Exodus to become as big as Iron Maiden or Judas Priest, or at least see more success than they did on this level. Did they? NO. <br><br>They FAILED at reaching the same level as Metallica, Maiden, Priest and Slayer, Gary Holt, again, said this was due to multiple problems within the band, and Capitol Records and the fact he "Ran out of music" and the band simply were not "writing their best albums".

Its crazy how Gary joining Slayer reinvigorated his career. I think he was running a bowling alley with his wife while also playing with Exodus to make ends meet throughout the late 90s and early 00s. Now, Gary Holt has probably made more money as a hired gun in Slayer than his whole career with Exodus. Its like joining Slayer made him relevant and all these guitar companies like ESP gave him a signature guitar and endorsement deals that he would've never got with Exodus. He's always been an awesome guitarist and glad hes finally getting the recognition he deserves.
