Lords of Waterdeep is indeed a phenomenal, hilarious classic (with its mechanic of recruiting and deploying D&D adventurer parties, particularly with the D&Deeple accessories), and I'm glad it was mentioned above.

I'd also shout out the out of print, seminal asymmetrical area control game Chaos in the Old World. What a full-fledged design, and its DNA is evident in its many descendants. Eric Lang's real statement of intent.

I was truly surprised at how good the Harry Potter movies were. Each one get darker and more serious as they progress. Also many small discoveries are made as they progress that make you want to find out more. Ever so slowly the pieces start to fall together. Very well done.

Concerning your discussion about War of the Ring. I highly recommend it. For a few years I worked part time at a LGS. I would see a couple guys come in and play it every few weeks. They always raved about it. I tried watching them play, but it never clicked. A few years later I saw a copy available and picked it up. It took a bit to get through the rules, but once I did...WOW! I really think this may be my #1 favorite game.

We appear to have similar taste in games. For context, some of my top games are A Game of Thrones 2nd edition, Star War Rebellion, Battlestar Galactica, Root. More recently Fate of the Fellowship has been moving up. Thanks for the video!

goodness .... love your reviews and commentary...if you could add (for this solo player) the player count up front, that would be amazing ! Thank you and love and respect to you Cody !

My top 3 recommendations:
1. Rune Wars - I think this does epic fantasy battles and the atmosphere of you as a King/Queen leading your kingdom the best.
2. Zerywia - An awesome coop adventure game in a slavic fantasy setting with really intricate and unique mechanisms.
3. Dungeon Saga - A Dungeon Crawler which is not bogged down in mechanisms (I know, crazy) and with the "in between actions" you actually feel mighty and wicked as the GM.

honourable mention: Prophecy. Very old but still very good "family afternoon sandbox game".

Good list. Was surprised that Lords of Waterdeep didn't make at least the honourable mentions as I think it's a great game and great introduction to worker placement games. Also, Discworld: Ankh-Morpork or Guards! Guards! I thought might be in with a shout. So many good IP games and with a top 10 can't have them all. Good list though

You seem to be putting out a new video every day. Your spoiling us, to the point, that I'm looking for a new one each day.

Great list! Tons of LotR games (as expected 😉) my favorite game in this genre is still LotR LCG (as well as my favorite LotR game of all time)... and well... technically Five Tribes is also a kind of "fantasy" game due to the genies so that one too 🤣

Great list! All of those are really great games and nearly all of them rank pretty highly with me, the only one I haven't played is the Conan game.m, despite me owning multiple Conan games.

Conquest of Nerath is absolutely a great game, it's a game that I hold onto hoping that someday I'll get to play it again. The problem is, since it is essentially a fantasy version of Axis & Allies it is hard for me to get to the table with the current group that I play with.

By the way, I once owned a rooster that woke me up every morning. Unfortunately it recently died and the only thing the farm store had to replace it with was a duck. So now I have to get up at the quack of dawn every morning....

I found a complete, used copy of the LOTR Fellowship of the Ring Deck Building Game at Value Village in Canada last year for $20 and all cards were sleeved in Dragon Shield clear sleeves! Haven’t played it yet but I was stoked to acquire it as it’s a pretty hard game to find now.

Lot of great games here, but Conan is my favorite. And it’s still going strong, Monolith is doing a new Kickstarter for more expansions in September. And they’re reprinting darn near everything from all the previous campaigns. Can’t wait!

Seriously you must play War of the Ring (2nd edition) with the three expansions! It is a GREAT game with so much re-playability! The mechanics are fun, the battles can be nail-biting, the card play is diabolical, and the dice roll decisions is everything! Strategy & Tactics! You'll be hooked.
It does take a few games to get into it. The cards are numerous and can be complex but WOW what fun for two player!
I agree that Conquest of Nerath is a great game, 3 or 4 players for sure. So glad I have a copy.
BUT WotR is #1
Thanks for the reviews, I really enjoy and get a lot from them. 🖖
