I think the most disturbing story is Peralez questline. Nothing scares me more than very subtle mindcontrolling by corps (or aliens). Also watching Mr. Blue Eyes staring at you from above in the end of questline is very disturbing. And when you remember about Garry the Prophet and his speeches about blue eyed aliens… So cool.

The Hunt and associated questline is the most disturbing story ive encountered playing video games. Make the chills down my spine more than most horror games. Next level kind of disturbing imo.

Sweet Dreams is worth doing just for the opportunity to cut down more scavs and Stefan. Brendan though, it's always sad to see him go, even if he's not truly sentient.

Fun fact: Brendan is voiced by Bryan Dechart, who also portrayed Connor in Detroit Become Human, another game about sentient robots.

I did the crucifixion right after brendon got shut down and tbh I thought it was hilarious, the way you can go from feeling bad for a vending machine to crucifying someone is such a funny concept to me

I remember after "Dirty Biz" I had to stop the game for awhile because it left me pretty shooked, the way the old guy was describing the victims without any remorse triggered me and instantly caused me to shoot both of them (brilliant voice acting ) and after reading the laptop with all the screwed up fetishes the young kid was into made me not even regret that decision.

See, I play a netrunner/brawler build and do the Sweet Dreams quest for the “You’re trapped in here with me” satisfaction.

Chilling fact: in the final Harris' dream BD you can actually see a shadow of a woman outside of the barn. If I remember correctly, night vision lets you see it more clearly.
Most likely it's Anthony's mother, maybe a hallucination he manifests judging and scorning him for killing her, fueling his obsessions.

One thing about Sinnerman, is that it really fucks with your ludo-cognitive narrative.
Josuah killed people during an armed robbery. Most of us, as players, would rightly dismiss him as a murderer for that.

But... V? How many people has V killed in his own heists and gigs? Fuck's sake, you only encounter him because you took on a hit job on him.

So, what would V actually think? Both of his faith and his quest for forgiveness.

Ultimately, the way I saw it, V saw the whole thing to the end, right down to hammering in the nails because there is some part of him that hopes redemption is possible for him too.

Something you missed from Sweet Dreams: That building is not only where you rescued Sandra Dorset, but it's also the building they hack Tanaka's brain in in Edgerunners. It's the building Maine finally goes cyberpsycho in. The same floor and rooms even.

1. After the first time, I never do Stefan’s quest, because I refuse to roleplay my V as that damn stupid, and there’s no way to roleplay as anything else. There’s no dialog where you can say you’re going undercover, or anything else more plausible than that V actually fell for it.

2. Gottfried and Frederik always die now. Frederik first.

3. I love the Sinnerman quests. I always come out of those with so many conflicting thoughts. Nobody comes off well in them, even V!

4. Coin-operated Boy seems so much less disturbing than everything else that’s going on in Night City, which tells you how fucked everything else is! Of course, recent events have me thinking that we’re frighteningly close to replicating this.

5. This one’s straight-up nightmare fuel. It’s funny how everything else in the game is future horror, but this kind of thing has been happening since the dawn of time. The more things change…

As a person who tested this game and spoke to fellow testers about the quests. Most of the QA folk I worked with, described quest with Joshua as the most disturbing and sometimes "hard to progress". The final scene in the BD studio was the most shocking for most of the people when tested it for the first time - that's how good it was when we really felt how powerful that scene is. We also had a little fun moments with V as someone extremely naive while "picking up any braindance straight from the trashcan" :)
